Julienne Stroeve is Senior Research Scientist at the National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) of Colorado (USA). Stroeve received her Ph.D at the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1996 and her main research focuses on remote sensing of snow and ice in the visible, infrared, and microwave wavelengths. Other bases on diagnosing the declining Arctic sea ice cover, studying the impact of future loss of Arctic sea ice on northern hemisphere snow cover, investigating EOS sensor fusion for retrieval of Arctic sea ice albedo, developing application enhancement of the Scatterometer Climate Record Pathfinder and developing cryospheric change analysis web service: application of a suite of tools to Greenland ice sheet processes. Extending and improving AVHRR Polar Pathfinder products. Dr. Stroeve has participated in several projects on assessing the impact of Arctic sea ice variability on the Greenland ice sheet surface mass and energy balance, evaluating of Arctic and Antarctic sea ice and on innovative network to improve sea ice prediction in a changing Arctic and took part in different expeditions. Finally she is member of the American Geophysical Union (AGU) and counts with numerous publications.
