Jose Antonio Lopez-Escamez. Principal Investigator at the Centre for Genomics and Oncology Pfizer-University of Granada-Andalusian Regional Government, Granada and Otorhinolaryngologist at Hospital de Poniente in Almeria, Spain. He is invited Professor in the Tissue Engineering Master and Biomedicine PhD Program at the University of Granada and Member of the Royal Academy of Medicine in East Andalucía. The goal of his research is to elucidate novel genes and biochemical pathways associated with Ménière’s Disease (MD), a chronic disorder of the inner ear causing vertigo, sensorineural hearing loss and tinnitus. His research approaches include whole-exome sequencing to identify mutations in familial MD, the generation of induced pluripotent stem cells to develop. A human based MD and the restoration of the phenotype by CRISPR Cas9 gene edition technology.
