"Pere Ibern, is Principal Researcher at the Center for Research in Helath and Economics, Universitat Pompeu Fabra. He holds an M.B.A. degree from ESADE (Escuela Superior de Administración de Empresas, Barcelona) and a Ph.D. in Management Science from Universitat Ramon Llull. He also completed the Executive Program on Health Care Administration at Yale University. Later, he was visiting researcher at Duke University Center for Demographic Studies, and has been consultant for the World Bank and multilateral institutions. He has been President of the Spanish Health Economics Association and member of the board of the Spanish Public Health Association. For many years he has been serving as a board member in Fundació Cultural Meritxell, a nonprofit foundation. Now he serves the boards of Fundació Grifols, and Fundació Unió Catalana d’Hospitals.
His research activity is performed at the Center for Research on Health and Economics, at Universitat Pompeu Fabra. He is the author of chapters and articles in journals on health insurance, economics of organization and regulation in health care. His articles have appeared in academic journals and press. The focus of his research has been health insurance, pharmaceutical regulation and hospital contracting and payment systems.
