Larissa Brizhik is a leading research fellow at Bogolyubov Institute for Theoretical Physics (Kyiv, Ukraine). She graduated from Physics Department of Kiev State University. She had short-term stays abroad at International Institutes of Theoretical Physics (Trieste, Italy) and Biophysics (Neuss, Germany); Universities of Catania, Palermo (Italy), Durham, London (Great Britain), Kiel (Germany), Linkoeping (Sweden), Algarve (Portugal) and Complutense University of Madrid (Spain). Her main fields of interests are theoretical physics and biophysics. Her current research interests are nonlinear coherent phenomena in condensed matter physics and biophysics, electron-phonon interactions in low-dimensional systems, interaction of solitons and bisolitons between themselves and with external fields; nonlinear mechanisms of high-temperature superconductivity; soliton mechanism for energy storage and electron transport in macromolecules and polymers; influence of electromagnetic radiations on biological systems; role of electromagnetic interactions and coherence in self-organization. Larissa Brizhik has received the Ilya Pigogine international gold medal in 2011 and the Medal of the Ukrainian National Academy of Sciences “For Scientific Excellence” in 2012.
